In order for the US Open to maintain its status as the largest tennis tournament in the world, significant investment had to be made in the infrastructure, capacity, fan experience and corporate partnership opportunities. ROSSETTI guided the United States Tennis Association (USTA) throughout the ongoing, immersive Vision Plan for the utilization and growth of the 46-acre National Tennis Center campus.
ROSSETTI worked with the USTA to transform the event from “tennis in the park” into a sports spectacle on par with the Olympics. The centerpiece of the redevelopment is the construction of two new stadiums - Grandstand and Armstrong, as well as a retractable roof over Arthur Ashe Stadium.
The transformation will be implemented in three phases with the goal of overall completion by the 2018 US Open. As a result of these collective enhancements to the NTC, the facility is expected to draw an extra 10,000 people/day during the US Open, increasing attendance to 1.2 million visitors.
