Located in Grand Junction Michigan, the project began as a humble weekend home renovation for a Chicago family and expanded over the years as use and time evolved. Sitting along Upper Jeptha Lake, the property includes a main house, guest house, garage/exercise room, pool and a boathouse that were built over the course of time. As the project began, everything was initially focused to the lake. Through the continuous development of program and building, opportunities were created to develop the more intimate hillside of the property. Exterior spaces developed around new communal activities; the pool, exterior kitchen, and porch spaces. The calm and muted material palette complements the lush surroundings and maintains a stylistic consistency across the multi-building property.
