The Schwartz Reisman Innovation Campus advances the University of Toronto's mission to link academic research with entrepreneurial endeavours. Located at a pivotal juncture between the university, the historic Legislature Grounds, and the city's Discovery District, this 13-story building forms a new gateway to Queen's Park along University Avenue and frames the heart of the campus.
The 200,000-square-foot complex brings together the University of Toronto Entrepreneurship program, the Innovations and Partnerships Office, the Vector Institute for Artificial Intelligence, the Schwartz Reisman Institute for Technology and Society, and a range of startup and corporate partners. Flexible loft-like offices, labs, classrooms, conference rooms, and event spaces of multiple scales are organized along a vertical social circuit that supports evolving needs and future growth.
Multi-story, light-filled winter gardens are interwoven throughout, dissolving boundaries and creating intentional spaces for reconnection and meaningful dialogue. In an era shaped by advanced technologies and artificial intelligence, these social environments serve as vital counterpoints where people engage directly, exchange ideas, and ground innovation in human experience. A generous ground-floor plaza animated by rain gardens and café seating establishes an inviting presence along College Street, while elevated terraces offer expansive views of the Toronto skyline.
Together, these public, outward-facing territories define the building's tapered massing, create a permeable edge, and establish datums that connect to the surrounding context. Envisioned as a beacon for discovery, the campus supports the University's aspiration to cultivate a dynamic incubator for intellectual exchange and research.
