The renovation of an old "pintxos" bar in the heart of the Old Town of Donostia-San Sebastian needs to maintain the essence of these traditional places, with their long bars full of pintxos and lively and carefree atmosphere.
Its old name, Txalupa (small and colourful fishing boats), gave rise to talk about the essence of this neighbourhood, inseparable from the port and the Sea.
The greenish tone, referencing the water in the port, serves as background to the bar, designed with an apparent reference to the "txalupas".
As a colour counterpoint, we introduced the ropes, so typical in traditional fishing nets.
There is a small private club on a lower floor, with a sophisticated nocturnal atmosphere inspired by an old wooden-clad ship's hold.
The connecting staircase between the two floors is a tunnel tinted with red light, which, thanks to all its symbolic charge, helps us attract clients in search of a more nocturnal experience.
