The Truliant Operations Center is a visionary adaptive reuse project that transforms a once vacant 150,634 square foot Macy’s department store into a vibrant, sustainable workplace. Designed to support Truliant Federal Credit Union’s call center, training, and office operations, the facility reflects the organization’s core mission of enhancing lives by putting its members first. At the heart of the design is a dramatic steel staircase situated beneath a large skylight, bringing abundant natural light into the space and fostering a sense of connection across three levels. Work areas are arranged into flexible “neighborhoods” linked by generous corridors that promote movement, collaboration, and a sense of community. This strategic layout cultivates an inclusive and engaging environment suited to a diverse workforce. Sustainability is a key driver of the project. Repurposing the existing building dramatically reduces environmental impact, while features such as 742 bifacial solar panels, high-efficiency LED lighting, and modern HVAC systems support long-term energy savings and operational resilience. Plans for rooftop beehives further demonstrate a commitment to environmental stewardship and regenerative design. Purposefully designed for long-term adaptability and value, the Operations Center places occupant well-being at its core, offering wellness amenities, daylight-filled spaces, and a variety of workspace options. This project exemplifies how innovation and sustainability can come together to create a high-performing, healthy, and cost-effective workplace. As a benchmark for adaptive reuse, it illustrates the power of design to revitalize spaces, strengthen community connections, and deliver enduring impact.
