The project concerns the renovation of the roof structures of the Territorial Palace, the Canneti Auditorium, and the Olimpic Accademy in Vicenza. These buildings form the southeastern part of the Olimpic Theater complex, together creating a closed block near Ponte degli Angeli and Chiericati Palace.
The longest side of the complex, which develops along a north-south axis, faces east onto Levà degli Angeli and west onto the inner courtyard. The ground floor hosts various retail shops with entrances from Levà degli Angeli. On the upper floors, there are several municipal offices (in the southern portion) and the Canneti Auditorium (in the northern portion).
In the northern section, the building shifts westward to connect with the Olimpic Theater complex. This portion, which incorporates the Corsina Tower, houses on the ground floor the entrance and service areas of the Theater, as well as the staircase providing access to both the Olimpic Accademy and the Canneti Auditorium. The upper floors are occupied by the premises of the Accademy, including offices for administration, the secretariat, and the library.
The roof, which is the subject of this project, is composed—above the municipal offices—of a primary framework made of solid wood beams, likely dating back to the reconstruction in the 1950s.
The roof sections above the Canneti Auditorium and the Olimpic Accademy are supported by timber trusses. The false ceilings are formed by a framework of wooden joists connected to the main structure. In several areas above the false ceilings, rock wool insulation panels were installed. However, due to water infiltration from the roof and inadequate maintenance over the years, these panels are now in a poor state of conservation.
Because of the poor condition of the roof and its limited architectural and historical value, it was decided to completely rebuild it, with the aim of reducing the structural load and improving energy efficiency.
To achieve this, the false ceilings were replaced: on their upper surface, a 12 cm thick mineral wool insulating mat was applied to ensure proper thermal insulation of the interior spaces. The new intervention guarantees a fire resistance rating of REI90.
