In order to accept the child in the expansion of residential areas progresses, this is a newly built wooden nursery. The site is blessed with sunny place and ventilation adjacent to the lush green parks and fields, and people of diverse generation pass through the front road.
For this human scale environment, we avoided the building volume that we only piled up a function, and seemed to become gigantic and tried to make arrangement of houses that was familiar with the house scale of the surrounding environment by being conscious of cityscape. It has segmented nursery rooms in order to reduce the feeling of pressure against the surrounding environment, and has the appearance as if lined with four houses. For each road boundary part of the building, we have designed as a house front yard, and at the same time to ensure sufficient lighting and ventilation by large windows and perforated block in the room. It was designed as it never is too closed to the streets. In order to provide a feeling of touch and visual tenderness for material, we adopted perforated block wall which feel of a material of the soil and spraying materials of the outer wall and interlocking block paving and railroad tie, they bring on the atmosphere.
In the interior, we will cherish the approach to the children of sense, light, wind, green, and set up a dining room feel the smell, and by the windows for the natural grass garden that is totally open, children can enjoy their lunch time, such as if to eat lunch in the green fields. Furthermore, open kitchen which is in contact with the dining room, children and adults will be able to participate in the kitchen counter that can be used together. In this way, we have devised for communication between the cooks and children.
We believe also a small place is necessary for children in addition to nursery room. We create a playground that taking advantage of the elongated portion that is segmented the nursery room. Blackboard wall in the entrance has enabled the art activities, and there is a picture book corner with a low floor in the area of the hallway. They have become popular spaces for children.
