The City of Surrey embarked upon a visionary and ground breaking planning, design, and development process with the ambitious aim of transforming the architectural landscape of the city center and reshaping the culture and ethos of the city from “suburb” to thriving business and urban center.
Kasian and Moriyama Teshima Architects were commissioned by the City of Surrey to develop a master plan for the civic center and design a new City Hall facility. The master plan and building design express a welcoming, warm environment belonging to a diverse demographic that cuts across cultures and age groups. It expresses a sense of well-rounded life beyond just work and business, embracing family life, recreation, and spiritual health. The project also provides a seamlessly integrated landscape, as if the building forms were meant to be there with as much legitimacy as the mountains themselves.
Our integrated team on this project included: Functional Space Programmers, Architects, Urban Designers, Landscape Architects, LEED® and Sustainability Design, Interior Design, and Community and Stakeholder consultation.
