The Sugar Shack Residence is wedged between a dramatically steep ravine and a more sedate, manicured outdoor pool and garden; its form bending gently to reconcile these contrasting landscapes. This site-driven gesture organizes the interiors along a linear spine, with rooms unfolding in sequence. At the bend, a breakfast nook is accentuated by a niche clad in blue velvet, its intimacy heightened by a delicate pendant and an Eero Saarinen table. Adjacent, the open living area draws daylight deep into the home, with glazing oriented to maximize natural light while shielding views of neighboring properties.
A continuous ceiling plane unifies the interiors, with fixtures gathered into slender steel housings to minimize their presence. Material contrasts—clear-sealed steel, white oak, and raw concrete—establish a restrained yet tactile palette.
