CJS Architects completed an award winning expansion of the Strong Museum. The expansion gives the museum a revitalized street presence by transforming it into a major gateway for the City of Rochester.
The 105,000 square foot addition includes a 40,000 square foot exhibit gallery and an educational wing with classrooms, offices and multifunctional rooms. Special exhibit pieces have been added on all sides of the existing facility, transforming the identity of the museum and clearly communicating the Museum’s mission as the “National Museum of Play”. These exhibit pieces include a live butterfly conservatory, new central atrium, and an interpretive exhibit on the importance of play in our lives.
