STAAR Surgical Labs located in Monrovia, California, selected Kluger Architects to repurpose an existing storage room into two clean rooms with their respective material transfer vestibule in each to transfer materials in and out of the clean rooms while minimizing contamination. The two clean rooms are connected to a shared gowning room, where staff can change into their garments.
The project involved selective demolition of the existing construction. New construction included new mechanical and electrical systems to ensure contamination is strictly controlled and monitored for STAAR Surgical manufacturing of sensitive components and research activities.
