The new elementary school, L’Étoile, is set to welcome 510 students from kindergarten through grade 6. Designed as a vibrant and inspiring learning environment, it features 18 regular classrooms, three kindergarten classrooms, two daycare spaces, two multipurpose rooms, and a spacious double gymnasium (18 m x 24 m). A variety of service and administrative areas complete the program, ensuring a facility that is both functional and forward-looking.
Conceived by STGM, the architectural concept places the gymnasium at the very heart of the school, creating a dynamic hub of activity. Classrooms are arranged around it to take full advantage of natural daylight, fostering bright and welcoming spaces for learning. The exterior envelope, blending aluminum with touches of masonry and glass, gives the school a contemporary and enduring character. The library adds a distinctive touch, overlooking the activity of the first floor while flooding with natural light.
Sustainability is central to the project. With strategies focused on reducing water use, energy consumption, and cooling needs, the school rises well above the national average for buildings of its kind. L’Étoile thus embodies both educational ambition and environmental responsibility, offering the community a facility that will shine for generations to come.
