Snowmass Village Town Hall houses the police department, the town manager’s office, council chambers, group sales, marketing, finance, and the building and planning departments. The design takes advantage of the sloping site with earth sheltering to the north. The plan strategically positions two floors of utility, mechanical and police parking into the hillside and allowing the office spaces and public areas daylight and solar with its south east and south west orientations.
The design pays homage to the Snowmass ski mountain across the valley by positioning the entry access and key public spaces and circulation in correspondence to primary views and daylight.
The structure features a host of recycled materials for interior and exterior, maximizes energy efficiency in mechanical, electrical and lighting design, and the site orientation takes advantage of the passive solar design with day-lighting, solar assist and sun-shading strategies.
