Skademosen is a new budget-friendly housing area outside Roskilde in Denmark developed solely in wood.
The two two-storey buildings are laid out in two horseshoe-shaped garden spaces. You arrive in the middle of each garden space, and if you arrive by car, the car is parked centrally, so that the areas around the buildings are kept clear for walkways, gardens and recreational zones for playing and socialising.
There is a total of 44 flats that vary in size from 30 to 115m2 and are designed with an in-built flexibility, where walls can be added - and some even moved. They are designed to fit a wide range of users: families, couples, singles, young and old.
The buildings are built solely in wood in a custom-made Cross Laminated Timber-system CLT Flex co-developed by Vilhelm Lauritzen Architects. A system that will allow for a functional, flexible, contemporary and budget-friendly housing. All building models are prepared as 3D models and sent to a production company, which then produces and supplies the finished housing elements.
Façades will weather over time and take on a silver-grey appearance.
