At the harbour quay in Copenhagen the Danish law firm SIRIUS Advokater got a new office environment in a former warehouse, which today is transformed into offices. With a transparent and informal atmosphere the new office environment, that is designed by Årstiderne Arkitekter, supports the company's culture and work processes.
The vision for the new interior design of Sirius Advokater was - based on wishes from the management and employees - to create an informal, welcoming and atmospheric framework for the company, where clients can be received in a professional setting, where they feel safe and comfortable.
The work of lawyers often requires discretion and privacy, and therefore it has been important, that all employees have one-man offices. In addition, a number of meeting rooms are specially designed for mediation and negotiations between clients. At the same time, it was important to create an office environment with a transparent character, so employees and visitors sense the workflow and life in the office. Combined with open, informal meeting places, the interior incites dialogue and knowledge sharing between the employees - an important culture at Sirius Advokater, which the decor now supports.
“The needs and wishes from Sirius Advokater were solved by partitioning offices and meeting rooms with large glass walls to create privacy, while still ensuring that employees and visitors always sense the people and life in the office. The glass walls, which can be screened by heavy curtains, create beautiful shadow effect, and are also architecturally aligned with the warehouse's industrial style,” says Mette Gravergaard, Creative Manager for Spaceplanning and Interior Design at Årstiderne Arkitekter.
The interior design of Sirius Advokater consists of a back-office for employee facilities and offices as well as a more open and accessible front-office with meeting center, reception, lounge area - where guests can prepare before and after meetings - and an open staff restaurant, which is also used for meetings, teaching and customer events.
In the interior design of the office efforts have been made to maintain the industrial and historic architecture of the warehouse with for example visible installations in the ceiling, cast iron elements and the original plank floors, which is more than 100 years old.
The interior design concept is characterized by a vibrant and tactile combination of deep earth colours, cool colour shades and materials like cotton, wool, bamboo and velour, which together with green plants create warmth and a special atmosphere in the interior. The lighting design has been used actively to create different shading effects and moods in the office's various zones.
The office furniture is a combination of reused furniture from Sirius Advokater's existing office, which combined with new furniture create a new and different expression. In addition, a large part of the office's furniture - the reception desk, high tables and mobile serving counters – are specially designed by Årstiderne Arkitekter Spaceplanning and Interior Design.
Spaceplanning and Interior Design also designed a new brand monogram for Sirius Advokater, with clear references to the brand's star-shaped logo, that is used as a recognizable graphic element on walls and glass surfaces throughout the office interior.
