An Interior Bathed in Celestial Light
Facing a bustling elevated highway, this project serves dual functions as a real estate sales center and a community development hub. Given the noisy and chaotic external environment, the primary architectural concept was to create a cohesive, inward-looking sanctuary. The building's exterior adopts a low-profile expression, utilizing gaps between interlaced pitched roofs and localized vertical roof openings to form skylights. These allow ample diffused natural light to permeate the interior during the day, crafting a serene and focused atmosphere.
Spatial Flow and Materiality
A linear exhibition gallery, stretching directly beneath the skylights, connects various functional zones. At the midpoint of this corridor sits an island-style reception bar; the celestial light cascading from above transforms the bar into the visual centerpiece of the entire space.
The interior utilizes pristine white walls as its base, with solid wood blocks and panels serving as the structural and decorative elements for the reception island and partitions. The top-down diffused light accentuates the textures and shadows of these wooden details. The design purposefully employs minimal materials and the interplay of natural light to cultivate a warm, cohesive interior environment.
Architectural Form
The community development center is housed within a barn-shaped volume. Together with the primary linear structure, it frames and defines the entrance plaza, creating a welcoming transition from the city into the site.
Key Design Highlights:
• Acoustic Buffer: Uses a low-profile shell to shield the interior from highway noise.
• Zenithal Lighting: Replaces traditional windows with horizontal and vertical skylights to ensure privacy and soft illumination.
• Minimalist Palette: Combines white surfaces with timber to achieve a "warm minimalism."
