What role will the automobile play in the “smart city” of tomorrow? Groupe Renault is framing a vision of the development of electric, autonomous and shared mobility services fully integrated into the road network. And even into new buildings to form part of a renewed urban ecosystem by the year 2025. This vision is shared with the Chartier Dalix firm of architects.
According to Observatoire Netexplo, the reinvention of towns and metropolises as “smart cities” is based on six pillars: mobility, economics, the home, governance, citizens and environment/energy. Groupe Renault is directly involved in three of these:
– The home, with its domestic energy storage solutions,
– Environment/energy, with the smart grid,
– Mobility, thanks to its current offers and the vision provided by its concept robot-cars EZ-GO, EZ-PRO and EZ-ULTIMO.
In the near future, it is possible to imagine these three pillars coming together to create a new urban ecosystem, in which shared mobility solutions are integrated into buildings. That is where the visions of Groupe Renault and a firm of architects like Chartier Dalix overlap.
