SanDisk is an engineering-driven corporation. Its position in the market place depends on tiny incremental improvements in data storage, an important commodity in the tech industry. This business environment was reflected in a workplace that was functional, with an emphasis on heads down study and large organically grown electronics labs where many engineers spent their day. The design team interviewed every senior leader in the company as we began the design of their 600,000 sf campus renovation. The outcome was an interior that expressed the fundamentals of their product. The dominant color was white, expressing the precision of their technologies; red was added as an expression of their logo and their brand, and finally, wood was used to express the new culture of collaboration.
