To strengthen its brand identity, the manufacturer of GPS-based navigation devices commissioned Valerio Dewalt Train to design a 15,000 SF flagship store on Chicago’s Magnificent Mile. The design contrasts sensual, natural materials with high-tech displays that invite customers to interact with the product. The primary architectural feature is a two-story, sculptural wood wall that partially wraps the space. The wall serves as the signature natural design element as well as a counterpoint to the technological focus of Garmin products. The project was awarded the AIA Chicago Interior Architecture Honor Award.
