A complete interior re-furbishment was proposed for an old casale in a medieval town on the outskirts of Siena.
The house was used regularly as a weekend getaway by an extended family based in Torino. Existing kitchen, bathroom and living areas were reconfigured to be open plan, maximising the amount of useable space available. Spectacular views of the surrounding Tuscan hillside were important factors that also helped determine the layout of proposed spaces and furnishings.
The materials palette was kept simple but rich in quality and texture, to reflect the warmth, longevity and solid nature of the surrounding buildings and context.
