Located on the eastern side of the Paupis quarter, this apartment block with an area of about 3,000 sq m creates a subtle dialogue between the city and nature. The main highlight of the quarter is the maple tree growing on Aukštaičių Street, which becomes the axis of the new public space and the entire quarter, connecting architecture and nature.
When creating the architectural concept, imaginary natural rays are drawn connecting the existing maple tree with the banks of Vilnius. They are reflected not only in the urban structure of the quarter, but also in the facade decoration:
The facades and roof planes of the courtyard of the buildings are decorated with light materials, and the exteriors are decorated with darker ones. An expressive silhouette of the quarter is formed: the designed volumes descend towards the banks of the river, reacting to the adjacent urban context with their heights and directions. The solution continues the traditions characteristic of Vilnius: the external expression of the facades is more active, and the internal one is calmer, creating a calm, cozy inner courtyard. The openings of windows, entrances, and loggias are arranged intuitively, painterly, guided by feeling and emotions, taking into account the spirit of the adjacent Užupis district. Low-rise architecture harmoniously blends into the green environment, where buildings, like separate houses, form cozy interior spaces, courtyards, and paths. The diagonal roof lines resemble the silhouette of the old town, and modern materials reflect the contemporary rhythm of the city. There is a sense of peace here, even though intense city flows flow nearby. This is a place where the greenery of trees and flashes of light intertwine with the energy of the city, creating a sense of home that connects community, history, and a vision of the future.
