ReGen Villages is a visionary and regenerative model for engineering and facilitating the development of off-grid, integrated and resilient neighbourhoods that power and feed self-reliant families around the world.
ReGen stands for regenerative, where the output of one system is the input of another. The concept has a holistic approach and combines a variety of innovative technologies as energy positive homes, renewable energy, energy storage, high-yield organic food production, vertical farming aquaponics, water management and waste-to-resource systems. We like to think of ReGen as the Tesla of ecovillages. We want to make it easy, convenient and accessible to choose a sustainable lifestyle.
ReGen is all about applied technology. We are simply applying already existing technologies into an integrated community design, providing clean energy, water and food right off your doorstep. With the integration of innovative technologies, ReGen holds a serious potential in changing some of our global environmental challenges. ReGen is about creating a better model for a sustainable future. A model that adds not only environmental and financial value, but also social value by creating the framework for empowering families and developing a sense of community, reconnecting people with nature and consumption with production.
The housing units are organised in a circle and food production facilities are placed in the centre. The units are encased in a glass envelope to extent the growing and living season in food production facilities and housing units. Infrastructure, electric car charging stations and social spaces are placed between the buildings to ensure complete integration of the community. By minimizing the footprint of the food production and housing units, we free up space to create biodiversity, permaculture and seasonal gardens, creating a village that doesn't deplete nature, but restores it.
ReGen Villages is designed in collaboration with ReGen Villages, B.V. a Dutch holding company and Danish architects EFFEKT based in Copenhagen.
ReGen Villages was founded by James Ehrlich, a successful serial technology entrepreneur who has self-funded regenerative organic food and bio-generator platform research and development.
