"Volumes as light sieve"
When we started with the 'PTV Telecom' office project, we were faced with a pre-existing building located in the southern outskirts of the city of Valencia. PTV Telecom' is an innovative, dynamic and expanding company that seeks to establish its headquarters in the city. Under these premises a new office building is formalized. The prismatic shape of the building's floor plan and its face brick facade give rise to a more iconic and static building. As a counterpoint, a double skin is projected to make it a light and dynamic element.
The access is modified to improve accessibility, simplifying the road access and giving way to a pedestrian entrance that communicates with the building through a wide staircase accompanied by a large garden area. This green area is materialized with a soft topography that allows to reach the first floor level in a comfortable way. In addition, this area serves to create a mass of vegetation that acts as an acoustic barrier against the adjacent road.
The first floor program consists of a large reception area directly linked to several meeting rooms and the entire vertical communication core. Then, through a large glass partition, there is access to a large central 'plaza' where the required workstations are distributed in a completely open space. A large central courtyard, fully glazed, is what interrupts this space, providing natural lighting to this interior space. The entire perimeter of the building is filled with the rest of the required program, in this case rooms completely delimited for each required use.
The second floor follows a similar scheme. The most substantial difference is in the central area, as this time it is resolved with a set of open areas (waiting rooms) and closed (meeting rooms), without forgetting the large courtyard that crosses it and incorporates natural light. The perimeter is again compartmentalized, housing the different workshops that the company needs for the development of its activity, as well as the rest of the server rooms.
The third floor, in semi-basement, houses the use of parking, warehouses and machine rooms.
It is worth mentioning the chromatic range that resolves all the materiality, as black and white, corporate colors of the brand, are the ones that resolve each encounter, both horizontally and vertically.
The first floor access façade is treated as a large transparent window, seeking continuity between interior and exterior, as well as giving a sense of elimination of the boundaries of the plot.
The rest of the facades are clad with a double skin, permeable, configured by a series of rectangular aluminum profiles lacquered in white, arranged vertically and randomly spaced from each other. We resorted to an innovative cladding, which adds value and performance to the operation of the building. At the same time, it helps to incorporate the first interior material we work with: natural LIGHT. All the rooms are exterior and are bathed in filtered light through the cladding itself.
With the sunset, the artificial lighting of the exterior of the facade acquires great prominence as it provides a sense of weightlessness to the building itself.
Finally, we cannot fail to mention the roof, which is treated as just another facade, turning it, from an aerial perspective, into a landmark. The anagram of the company acquires great relevance as the 3 letters are installed in black methacrylate, on a large scale. Around it, light-colored gravel covers the rest of the surface to emphasize the black of 'PTV'.
A building representative of the company 'PTV' is created, a flagship building that provides added value to the brand itself.
