A Russian-speaking family who moved to Cyprus purchased a spacious home with a breathtaking view of Limassol. The only unfortunate limitation was that the children's room had previously been the guest room. The interior was plain, and the bathroom was finished in dark grey porcelain tiles, which did not match the dreams of the girl or her parents.
They wanted a desk by the window, but placing it there would have eliminated storage space. The first thing we did was correct the room's awkward geometry by adding built-in wardrobes for clothes, books and toys. Storage increased, and the room was divided into two functional zones: sleeping and working.
We concealed the bathroom door by integrating it into a wall panel - now it blends seamlessly with the interior. Behind that door lies the real surprise: a bathroom in pink onyx. Soft lighting turns it into a magical space - like something out of Narnia, but just for the little lady.
Only boldly minded adults would dare such an unusual project in Cyprus, and the idea succeeded. When my own daughter saw the design, she asked, slightly offended, why it wasn't her room. Looks like we'll need to come up with something new.
