This Japandi project with soft-minimalist touches is a story about balancing yin and yang. The interior was born at the crossroads of the homeowners' two cultures. SHE dreamed of warm wooden floors, HE wanted practical, traditional porcelain stoneware. SHE pictured the house in deep dark tones, HE voted for an abundance of light space. As in any strong family, compromise won: light walls and dark veneer became friends in harmony, the ground floor was dressed in porcelain stoneware, while the staircase and the entire private zone of the second floor were finished in wood.

The villa is located in Moni, a picturesque suburb of Limassol. Fruit orchards bloom all around, and the bedroom windows open onto a panoramic mountain view. Nature itself suggested the palette: we brought deep green, warm terracotta and soft beige tones into the rooms. The interior became a natural continuation of the exterior.

Behind the apparent simplicity lies an enormous amount of collaborative work between designer and homeowner. The building's geometry from the developer was far from ideal: the front door opened directly into the centre of the living room, turning it into a pass-through entryway, and the spot for the washing machine had been allocated in the first floor's living area.

Since we joined the project back at the construction stage, we had a huge advantage. We relocated the entrance, organised an isolated, ergonomic hallway, and moved the washing machine to the guest bathroom. Regarding Cyprus regulations: if a bathroom is not planned to have a shower or tub, it is entirely legal to arrange and install the necessary electrical outlet there.

A special point of pride is the thoughtfully planned lighting zoning. Large chandeliers serve a purely accent, decorative role, shaping volumes and creating an intimate atmosphere. Technical lighting is gently hidden: deep recessed spotlights in the living room and concealed LED lighting for furniture and mirrors.

After dark this house turns into a true oasis for relaxation. The light doesn't glare into your eyes - it flows exactly where it's needed, gently preparing the household for sleep. Our true place of power is wherever we recover quickly and feel safe. That's the place we always want to return to.
