New Delhi is finally set to get its very own World Trade Center (WTC) – a state-of-the-art commercial and office complex that is slated to be the new urban hub in South Delhi. Billed to be amongst the world’s largest office buildings, at over six million square feet, it will be a landmark addition to Delhi’s cityscape. In a city where most offices are currently either in much older buildings or in the suburbs, the WTC will be a premier and preferred address for the best corporates.
Initially started as a commercial redevelopment of the Nauroji Nagar neighbourhood, the project was transformed when NBCC (India) Limited collaborated with WTCA (World Trade Centers Association) to bring this one stop business destination to New Delhi.
Spread over 25 acres, the site has direct and close connectivity to the airport, railway station and nearby metro stations. The masterplan strategically maximises the road frontage, providing road visibility to all the buildings. It features a landscaped foreground, creating a buffer between the site and its surroundings while allowing for a grand and inviting entrance.
The World Trade Center comprises of an integrated business hub along with dedicated spaces for cultural activities, including art galleries and conference centres. In addition to work and cultural spaces, there are recreational hubs such as shopping areas alongside landscaped plazas, health centres, business clubs and F&B options with landscaped courts for convenient access and use.
The curved building profile flows with the site, helping in an effective visually-directed traffic movement, and the three-level basement parking can accommodate up to 8,000 cars. Common retail and public amenities are located in the central towers, catering to the multifarious commercial and business requirements of over a 30,000 workforce that is expected to operate from the WTC. The business sky lounge with fine dining is designed in the centre, becoming an iconic focus in the skyline.
The World Trade Center project has many USPs – connected 6 million square feet of office space, smart offices with POE lighting, sky dining and business lounge, green street with outdoor and terrace dining, zinc aluminium digital facades etc. – making it not just amongst the largest but also amongst the most exciting workspaces globally. The WTC achieves not only sustainable business solutions, but also holistic lifestyle solutions for workplaces of the future.
