Merano, Italy
Location and Tradition.
Situated in the Merano valley with a view on the dolomites, this hotel features the traditional pergola style with an all-timber, post-and-rail construction typical of the region. The terraced building perfectly adapts to the slope of the hills, integrating with the landscape while reducing its exposed surface and thus heat loss. Thermal insulation, south facing glazed façades, green roofs and other features contribute to climate management and energy saving. Local building materials and furnishings complete this project with a holistic idea of sustainable architecture.
