A+I designed the new headquarters for the global brand Peloton in New York City, inspired by the company's desire to “Treat all Equally, Support all Uniquely”, reflecting a culture where all are accepted.
Peloton was resolute that as the company evolved, its environment should ensure that everyone across the company’s six business verticals would have unparalleled and equal access to world-class amenities in their new headquarters while simultaneously meeting each business vertical’s unique and specific needs in space.
A+I’s goal was to deliver this vision in space, celebrating the dynamism of the company which necessitated flexibility, and reflecting the deeply rooted values of the brand through the design of their new 350,000-sf workplace in New York City.
Central to the design was the idea of a shared experience across a workplace spanning eight floors. An idea of agile connectivity and community that would break down silos, and address the unique needs and working modes of Peloton’s many diverse departments.
Historically, shared experiences happened on the top floor of their existing office, endearingly dubbed “The Penthouse”. This physical separation from the rest of the workplace conflicted with Peloton’s own brand ethos of “Together, We Go Far.”
The big design idea turned the “Penthouse” on its head, extending it vertically through eight floors of offices with a continuous interconnecting stair. Vertically linked social programs, such as the cafeteria, terraces, fitness and yoga, town hall, and boardrooms, now orbit around an open atrium; with biophilia and feature brick walls cascading throughout the many sunlit floors.
The “Vertical Penthouse” is the community heart of the project around which meeting spaces and ancillary support spaces are organized, making the new headquarters transformational for Peloton and its people.
Notably, Peloton Headquarters was awarded the Fitwel Impact Award and is Fitwel’s “Highest Scoring Project of All Time.”
