On a site in London bounded by rail, walkway, and canal, and underneath one of London’s largest highways, RAAD proposes transforming an unpleasant part of many people’s daily commute into a highlight, an urban space that is actually a destination. Using a completely new technology that flattens a reflective canopy into a Fresnel set of “ripples”, light is scattered down onto a new duck pond, creating a living, rippling light effect that unifies this space with the adjacent Victorian canal.
