Located in bustling downtown San Francisco, Optimizely’s new 30,000 SF office mixes historic architectural features with streamlined and modern interiors. Design Blitz collaborated with the core and shell architect, Remiker and Associates, to create a space that supports Optimizely’s technology-based work style.
As developer of the world’s top A/B and multivariate testing platform, Optimizely is a leader in website optimization technology. For the company’s new San Francisco headquarters, Design Blitz took the opportunity to create a forward-looking, high-tech workspace that seamlessly integrates with the building’s industrial history. The board room, for example, is located in a former warehouse loading dock. The room received a clean and modern restoration with the addition of furring, custom furniture, and a retractable skylight that transforms the environment for a focused AV experience. The industrial context of the space still remains though, as slits in the furring give a peek into the building’s industrial past. To provide warm and organic contrasts to the exposed concrete, Design Blitz incorporated natural materials and a custom live-edge table into the project.
The overall design of the space hints at an affinity for classic sci-fi. The ground floor windows feature a custom data flow pattern made up of repeated Optimizely logos, which creates a level of visual privacy while still allowing for the street-level views that drew Optimizely to the space.
