NP HOUSE is conceived in response to the challenges of a dense urban residential context, where surrounding buildings sit in close proximity and direct visual exposure between neighbors is unavoidable. In such conditions, privacy becomes a primary concern for everyday living.
The design strategy begins by addressing this core pain point, positioning architecture as a filter between the external environment and the internal domestic life. The outer envelope is therefore expressed as solid, calm, and protective — minimizing openings at eye level to shield the interior from unwanted views while creating a strong sense of security. At the same time, the composition of mass and wall rhythms is carefully arranged in a simple and restrained language, conveying a presence that is firm yet not oppressive.
Behind this enclosed shell, the interior reveals an opposing spatial quality — open, airy, and filled with natural light. Generous openings are carefully oriented to maintain privacy while allowing daylight to penetrate deep into the living spaces, creating a comfortable and uplifting atmosphere within.
NP HOUSE ultimately establishes a careful balance between protection and openness, creating a private sanctuary that harmonizes security, tranquility, and the quality of everyday living within a dense urban setting.
