Formerly a sheep farm with meadows, oaks and redwoods, The Farm strives to preserve and restore the small-scale agricultural landscape, quintessential to Northern California’s heritage. The owner-designers revitalized this run-down farmstead into a creative playground for design, architecture, gardening, art, entertainment and nature. The aim was to balance innovation, livability, and nature.
Prioritizing sustainability, the project maximized repurposed materials to breathe new life into the old barns, sheds and landscape. Glass, gates, wood and decking were reused to construct a greenhouse, furniture, trellis, decks and fencing.
Through redesign and restoration, The Farm has become a weekend getaway and includes a pool, firepit, bocce court and outdoor entertaining areas.
An organic garden produces substantial harvests of fruits, vegetables and flowers year-round. The landscape plantings are mostly low-water plants, succulents and grasses, including native plants to attract and support butterflies and pollinators.
Old buildings, lovingly restored, stand as proud guardians of history while sleek, contemporary features symbolize progress. Blending past with present, The Farm has established a timeless and relevant outdoor sanctuary for all living things.
