In the design of the NematAbad Residential project, two primary objectives were pursued:
• Compatibility and harmony with the site.
• Designing two units per floor with optimal and identical conditions.
Initially, to ensure compatibility with the site conditions, a primary volume was conceived, enveloped by a continuous shell emerging from the ground, symbolizing its integration with the surroundings. This shell was sloped at the roof level to harmonize with the site’s climatic conditions.
Furthermore, the project required two units per floor. Given the narrow width of the plot, placing two units of appropriate dimensions side-by-side exceeded the site's constraints. To address this, half of the design volume was rotated 195 degrees from the southern section. This orientation and placement angle allowed each unit to achieve better plan proportions and optimal sightlines.
Two factors influenced the design of the openings:
• The type of interior space behind the opening.
• The quality of the exterior facade where the opening is located.
