Baghiatallah University Entrance
The design of the Baghiatallah University Entrance is the result of merging two distinct spatial approaches.
The first approach adopts a thoroughly modern interpretation of the entrance; a concrete shell that emerges from the ground, defines the entrance space beneath it, and then returns to the earth. One of its vertical planes is angled along the primary flow of pedestrians to enhance legibility and create a more inviting atmosphere.
The second approach takes a postmodern perspective, featuring a brick volume with proportions and openings reminiscent of traditional Iranian gateways.
The integration of these two spatial volumes along their central axis has resulted in a work that may appear contradictory within the theoretical tenets of architectural theory, yet in practice, it creates a novel space. This space evokes concepts such as context, identity, accessibility, technology, and symbolism, offering a unique experiential encounter for those approaching the site.
