The international competition winning design provides a prototype for archaeological shelters at the World Heritage Site of Nea Paphos (Cyprus). Our strategy has focussed on creating a ‘kit of parts’ which can respond to different archaeological situations. The shelters sit on foundations which require no excavation. The diagrid timber structure allows long spans and is simple to construct. The environmental strategy utilises air flow and solar shading to stabilise temperature and relative humidity and protect against UV light and airborne salts. The material palette minimises visual impact with a timeless and elegant architecture.
