The owner plans to display different clothing in the store to surprise guests and follows the concept of diversification. Combining these points, we proposed to integrate ‘playground’ and ‘uncover’ as the design theme.
There are two floors in the store, and the basement is more spacious and higher, which gave us room to put play equipment in the space. The clothing and footwear display, checkout counters, and stairs are made into play equipment including climbing frames, swivel chairs and swings. They are reproduced at nearly 1:1 to amusement park facilities, some of them are 4.5 meter-tall, which visually elevates the entire space.
The owner wanted the store to be able to change the display of different artworks, so we suggested the use of wrapping to give the feeling of uncovering something new by lifting it. We first drew some abstract patterns in red, white and blue, then made four fabrics that were wrapped around the display from top to bottom. We went on site to guide how the winding of fabrics shall be carried out to maximize the visual effect. In addition, the style of the wrapped fabric is changeable, which makes the display of clothing and artwork like the exhibition space changeable in the future.
Lounge areas are situated in the center as well as on the same side of the fitting area. The central pop-up carpet pattern was drawn by us from the image of “eyes” and customized into a circle in the hope that guests will find beauty with their own eyes in the store.
