The new middle school is a structuring facility for the development of the neighborhood. The square extends the Avenue des Droits de l'Homme square. The entrance porch expresses the opening, in the axis of the square, of the middle school to the city. To accentuate the link, the treatment of the square, in sawn paving stones, continues that of the public spaces. It follows the limits of the plot. It offers an urban façade on a human scale, which outlines the contours of the new block.
It is the building that delimits the middle school, avoiding the fences. The building marks both the entrance to the city and represents an important equipment that energizes the neighborhood. The R+1 buildings offer the neighboring housing a view on the green roof of the college.
The new equipment is visible, legible, friendly. Variations are made in the continuous treatment of the three urban facades. The main facade on the square deploys a large opening at the level of the porch in transparency with the courtyard. The bays form large modules with wooden sunshades. A large glass façade
opens onto the reception hall. The middle school offers a rich urban facade, punctuated with transparencies. Large bays, on the outside of the wall, open onto the CDI, the art rooms and the teachers' rooms. The new middle school is a key element for the synergy of this new piece of the city.
