The project involves the complete renovation of a 30 sq.m. apartment in Athens, with the design centered on maximizing the potential of a highly compact space. The study approaches small-scale living not as a limitation, but as an opportunity to create a flexible and fully personalized living environment.
The new layout is organized around the user’s everyday needs, with the aim of assigning a specific purpose to every square meter. Rather than relying on conventional furniture solutions, custom-made, multifunctional elements were designed to accommodate different uses and allow the space to transform throughout the day. A table doubles as a workspace, while a fold-away bed is integrated into the wall, freeing up valuable floor space when not in use. Storage and additional functions are incorporated into the architecture of the apartment, reducing the need for freestanding furniture.
Ultimately, the renovation explores how an apartment of just 30 sq.m. can meet the demands of contemporary living without compromising comfort or spatial quality. Through flexibility, integration, and furniture designed specifically around the needs of the user, the compact footprint is transformed into a complete, functional, and adaptable living environment.
