The Ma Yang Ling Bird Watching Platform is situated on a 1,000-meter-high slope within the Liuchunhu Scenic Area. Serving as a key node along the 8.5-kilometer ridge boardwalk, it provides visitors with opportunities for bird watching and scenic viewing. Due to the steep terrain and dense surrounding forest, minimizing environmental impact and ensuring ease of construction were primary considerations in the design. Three similar wooden bird watching platforms form a cluster, allowing mutual observation from different angles.
The platform features a hexagonal plan, constructed by stacking uniformly sized 15cm square timber beams with intervals, gradually widening from bottom to top to create a tapered form. The structure is divided into two levels: the lower level serves as a hide, allowing visitors to observe birds through gaps between the timber beams, while the upper level is an open viewing platform connected by a central steel spiral staircase.
Built with lightweight materials and simple construction techniques that can be managed manually, the platform combines a distinctive design with an enjoyable visitor experience. It blends seamlessly into the forest environment, much like a bird's nest nestled among the trees.
