London, United Kingdom

STATUS
Built
YEAR
2016
This is a new development of109 homes for the Peabody Trust in Bromley-by-Bow, set within the Lime House Cut Conservation Area in east London.

Comprising three buildings of one, two and three-bedroom flats, this new collection of homes takes inspiration from the wharf-like, industrial vernacular of the East London context within which it is set. The new buildings sit adjacent to the River Lea and the Lime House Cut canal at the Bow Locks. They include 46 homes for private sale, 42 for shared ownership and 21 for rental, managed by Peabody Trust. The development also creates new public realm and access to the River Lea with improvements to the Lime House Cut canal walk.

The new buildings respond to the complex geometry of the site, reflected in the plan and roof form. They are designed with strong references to the riverside warehouse architecture of London with the use of brick, deep reveals, and the close relationship to the water’s edge.
