The project is located in Kuocang Mountain, Linhai, Zhejiang, with a total construction area of approximately 5,800 square meters. The site is on a 1,100-meter-high mountain and provides a breathtaking panoramic view. The wind turbines' constant rotation contrasts beautifully against the backdrop of natural landscapes, creating a unique and captivating scenery. The design aims to redefine the natural landscape with unique spatial memory points, reviving a culturally renowned mountain.
Experience the "wormhole" of space-time transformation
The "Gulliver Tunnel" design was inspired by time-traveling props in children's cartoons. Our goal is to turn the Galaxy Library into a "Wormhole" tunnel that presents a new interpretation of the natural landscape. We aim to use the site's existing conditions to create a cultural memory attribute that specifically celebrates Kuocang Mountain. The Galaxy Library has a modern and simple design that uses the natural features of Kuocang Mountain as inspiration. The library's surroundings and the sky above it create a one-of-a-kind cultural space that stimulates the senses and evokes memories. The goal is to offer visitors an experience that helps them transition from the busy world to a peaceful and calm state of mind.
Enter nature, become nature
Starting from the entrance of the library, walking along the carefully designed tour path, visitors will pass through areas resembling a sea of books for reading and studying, a tea room for relaxation and panoramic views, as well as offices and auxiliary spaces, and eventually reaching a small theater in front of the cliff. From the narrow entrance to the suddenly open landscape terrace, visitors gradually transition from human knowledge and civilization towards the pure and primitive natural world. The sense of self diminishes while the perception of nature expands infinitely, quietly realizing the design vision of "entering nature and becoming one with it" subtly and unobtrusively. The interior space aims to create a unique reading experience through ever-changing variations. In the experiential reading space facing the sea of clouds and immersed in starry skies, visitors are free to choose the most comfortable positions for reading, interacting, resting, and engaging in various activities. The interior design uses wood extensively to create a relaxed, rustic, warm atmosphere that promotes relaxation and tranquility.
