The restaurant is part of an old beach resort in Baga, North Goa and we had been roped in to revamp it completely. We wanted to bring the spirit of Tulum to the serene beaches of Goa, thereby creating a seaside sundowner that captures the essence of tropical design. Sun-kissed spaces infused with sandy neutrals and natural materials create a laid-back, bohemian atmosphere. Soft, breezy fabrics in soothing pastels complement a palette of sandy neutrals and lush greens, evoking the spirit of coastal living. The restaurant is a beachside one and the aesthetic of the space reflects nothing but the sun, sand and the greens around! Our color palette mainly comprises shades of orange and beige, that mimic the sun and sand. We have worked extensively with natural materials like wood, bamboo, cane, natural thatch and light-weight, linen fabrics.
Level 1 features a rustic bar, where the pièce de résistance within the space is the breathtaking layered, fringe ceiling installation in orange and beige hues that mimic the sun and sand. Spanning 270 meters and running in concentric circles on the bar level, this creation is truly a work of art! Further towards the beach, the two levels give a tropical vibe with lots of plants and the bamboo and thatch ceiling installations. An in-situ, concrete seating in a burnt orange runs across the length of the restaurant on Level 2, surrounded by verdant foliage and have a great view of the beach. The curved, fabric ceiling installation runs over 1000 meters in length and mimics the waves, swaying above in the breeze. As one steps onto the third level closest to the beach, one is hit by the absolute mesmerizing beach views. A wooden ledge with high chairs for seating runs across the length of the restaurant, where guests can enjoy the best sunset vistas. The addition of Jacuzzis at both ends of this level facing the beach is our favourite design element. Guests can take a dip while taking in the stunning sunset. The floor seating by the space is also a deliberate attempt to be closer to sea level while taking in the beauty. One can see the bubbling water as well as the waves of the ocean in one view. The base of the Jacuzzi has a lovely tropical mural for the flooring, complemented by rustic green tiles in a cement finish running all around. The orange lime wash on the adjoining walls and the decor pieces within the niches add to the charm. The bamboo and thatch ceiling installations, cane ambient lighting and understated furniture among verdant foliage blends in with the tropical fabric.
Surrounded by swaying palms, our beachside haven offers an immersive, enchanting experience that blends nature with design in an idyllic Goan setting.
