The new landmark mass sports center in Jiangshan City is located at the foot of Tiger Mountain, on the shore of Jiangshan Harbor, and was designed by LYCS Architecture for architectural and interior integration. The project consists of a swimming pool, a stadium and a sports park, of which the stadium is a renovation of the existing school stadium and the swimming pool is a new building. The design is to create a dynamic and cultural sports park to meet the needs of events and people's livelihoods and to explore an intensive operation mode with a pragmatic spirit.
Architecture integrated into the landscape
Inspired by Tiger Mountain and Jiangshan Harbor, the architectural team took inspiration from the river. It incorporated wave lines, a symbol of the landscape, to flow in a circular fashion along the site, shaping the building with curves and simulating the mountains to form a continuous skyline. Indoor and semi-outdoor activities are distributed between the two venues, with a central green and public space. The competition and training venues divide the swimming pool into two volumes. The public can pass freely and easily along the ramp or staircase to enter the central atrium, enter the venue or stop to play.
Pixelated interior space
The interior design of the mass sports center in Jiangshan City draws inspiration from the building façade. It adopts a pixelated approach, using different color blocks and materials to make a differentiated concept while ensuring the unity of the overall space. To create an atmosphere of indoor sports vitality to ensure functional use, creating a sports park with both vitality and cultural flavor. From the three levels of spatial variability, civicization of the venue and changeable functions, we make a large multi-functional stadium for mixed use during and after the competition.
