Iroko is a garden designed for a Bahamian family, long-time clients of Raymond Jungles, Inc (RJI). Brought in during the early stage, RJI collaborated closely with the client and architect to develop a thoughtful site plan. RJI also designed the site’s hardscape, water elements, grading and planting.
The garden’s foundation features native Bahamian species, integrated with resilient plants that thrive in the Caribbean climate. Every plant was carefully grown in South Florida, selected by the landscape architect and then transported to the Bahamas.
RJI prioritized using locally sourced materials to reinforce the garden’s authentic sense of place. The walls feature native Bahamian stone stacked in a traditional method, grounding the design in local heritage. This mindful selection of materials reflects the ethos of a design that respects and celebrates the character of the Caribbean region.
