HP House
Set on an 820-square-meter sloped site with a 3.5-meter change in elevation, HP House transforms a challenging topography into the project's defining architectural strategy. Rather than adapting the living spaces to multiple split levels, the garage is embedded into the slope at street level, creating a structural podium that supports a single expansive living plane above.
Elevated 3.5 meters above the street, the main floor accommodates the entire social program and most of the private areas on one continuous level, ensuring privacy while maintaining an open relationship with the surrounding landscape. Large retractable glass panels dissolve the boundaries between inside and outside, allowing the living spaces to extend seamlessly toward the terraces, pool, and gardens. Natural light, cross ventilation, and vegetation become integral components of everyday life, reinforcing a fluid and uninterrupted spatial experience.
Materiality plays a central role in expressing the project's character. The steel structure enables long spans, generous cantilevers, and slender proportions that give the architecture a sense of structural lightness while providing deep overhangs that protect the interiors from direct sunlight. Natural wood softens this precision, introducing warmth through ceilings, wall panels, and interior finishes that create an inviting and tactile atmosphere.
The social spaces were conceived as a single permeable environment with minimal visible structural elements, emphasizing openness, continuity, and visual connection. Water becomes another architectural element: the linear swimming pool mirrors the geometry of the house, reflecting light, vegetation, and sky while extending the perception of space beyond the built volume.
The family suites occupy the main living level and open directly onto the gardens, strengthening the relationship between domestic life and the outdoors. Only the master suite is positioned on the upper floor, where greater privacy and panoramic views over the city define a more secluded retreat. Above the living spaces, a rooftop solarium transforms the highest point of the residence into a contemplative platform overlooking the urban horizon.
HP House is defined by structural precision, spatial clarity, and the seamless integration of architecture, landscape, and everyday life. By concentrating the experience of inhabitation on a single elevated plane, the project achieves a rare balance between openness and privacy, technical efficiency and material warmth, creating an architecture that is both rational and deeply connected to its surroundings.
