HAYDARPASA MAHALLESI - Mainly deals with the transformation of the container harbour and its nearby station area in the size of 110 hectors. This is the area of the historical station where the Baghdad Train starts and ends in Istanbul's district Haydarpaşa called Kadıköy. The drafted study shows the Development of the district all in all dealing with 25 hectares of the area: It offers a Mixed-Use Program as well as Housing for about 5000 People which supports the typical urban network in Istanbul's neighbourhood with its informal and formal characteristics. The continued Structure focuses on potential arbitrary passages and permeability and abstains from traditional street space.
Nevertheless the structure does build spaces of hierarchies in its urban surroundings. So public and private areas merge in various layers of intimacy. This is where the project goes beyond urban development and reaches into the dwelling floor plans.
The rest of the Area is being redeveloped into a public recreational Area with lots of public Functions in it. In doing so the industrial character of the site is not being destroyed.
