Hamta Sport Complex is located in Kaaj Boulevard in one of the commercial-office zones of Karaj. This complex includes a commercial unit as well as various sport fields.
Taking into account the function of the building, it was important to provide natural lighting without creating overlook to the interior. The entire width of the site had to be used in order to meet the standard requirements of sport fields.
Two sets of staircases had to be implemented throughout the building, one as the main vertical circulation between the sport fields and the other as the emergency exit which connects the roof top to the ground floor. During the design process, it was decided to combine these two staircases to form two interwoven rings on the façade, leaving the entire width of the building available for the sport fields. These two rings function separately without interference.
Movement of people and south sunlight on the three flat layers created by this system was inspired by the traditional Persian miniature painting. The façade layers are formed using traditional handmade glasses implemented in the concrete shear walls of the structure.
The semi-transparent surface of these layers improves the quality of the atmosphere by providing natural light and by reflecting the movements of people in other layers, without causing overlook to the sport fields.
Skylights on the roof brings sunlight to the swimming pool area on the top floor. This light is then transferred to the lower floors through transparent layers at the bottom of the pool, connecting the water sport zone to the spa.
