Contemporary Waterfront Living Rooted in Lingnan Heritage
Design Statement
Located in the CBD core of Foshan New Town, at the confluence of dual water axes, this project transcends traditional residential landscaping. It is a strategic response to the city’s millennial "water-town" (Shuixiang) culture. By elevating water from a scenic backdrop to a foundational lifestyle element, the design redefines the urban waterfront as a "Hotel-style Urban Resort" that balances rational spatial logic with emotional resonance.
Strategy: The Art of "Weaving"
The design employs "Weaving" as both a tectonic and conceptual tool. We interweave the traditional Lingnan vernacular with modern residential functions and ecological systems. The site is organized through a "One Axis, Five Realms" narrative, dissolving the boundaries between architecture, interior, and landscape to create a seamless, poetic sequence.
Spatial Narrative
The Threshold of Order (Entrance): A hotel-style drop-off island integrated with an expansive porch. Rational geometric deconstruction creates an orderly urban interface, where the warmth of Beijin Beige stone overlaps with layered vegetation.
The Heart of Fluidity (Central Water Courtyard): A minimalist waterscape serving as the site's emotional core. Custom-designed lounges, crafted from Pandora Luxury Stone, are suspended over cascading waters, offering a tactile contrast and a sense of "slow-shore" tranquility.
Porosity and Integration (Modern Garden): Emphasizing visual permeability, this space acts as an extension of the indoor clubhouse. Using Angolan Black stone and glass railings, the design integrates the landscape with the built form through a multi-dimensional viewing platform.
Topography and Sensory Immersion (The Creek & Infinity Pool): Utilizing site elevation changes, the design creates a layered "Forest Stream." An infinity pool dissolves the horizon, while frangipani and bald cypress trees provide a biophilic microclimate for immersive relaxation.
Conclusion
Foshan · Origin and Future is more than a visual experience; it is a multi-sensory field. The artistic conception is realized through the tactile shift of materials, the microclimate of lush canopy, and the rhythm of flowing water—transforming everyday scenes into lasting physical memories of refined waterfront living.
