Founded in 1992 MCA - Mario Cucinella Architects is based in Bologna and Milan and is made up of over 100 professionals. MCA specializes in architectural design that integrates environmental and energy strategies.
The firm has carried out projects in Europe, China, North and Central Africa, the Middle East and South America. Among the most important are the New Surgical and Urgency Pole of the San Raffaele Hospital in Milan; the Santa Maria Goretti Church in Mornanno; One Airport Square, Accra, (Ghana); the 'La Balena' nursery school in Guastalla; the ARPAE headquarters for the regional agency for prevention, environment and energy, in Ferrara; the Sino-Italian Ecological and Energy Efficient Building, in Beijing (China). The firm has about fifty projects under design and/or construction, the most important are: the new masterplan MIND - Milano Innovation District; SeiMilano residential and mixed-use project; the New Unipol Group Headquarters, all in Milan. Also in progress is the Valle D'Aosta University Hub project in Aosta, two "Viertel Zwei" residential and office towers in Vienna, two residential projects in Tirana and various private projects in the Middle-east.
In 2015 Mario Cucinella founded SOS - School of Sustainability, a postgraduate training centre to create professionals in the field of sustainability. SOS collaborates in synergy with MCA.
MCA Design - specialised in the theme of recycling and the circular economy - was launched in 2018, since which time it has enjoyed numerous collaborations with the most famous Made in Italy companies.
