The project is located in the north shore of Ningbo Dongqian Lake, with the mountain on the north and the lake on the south, and with the completed residentials on both east and west sides. The traffic is convenient, the environment is quiet, the landscape is super thanks to the mountain and the water. At the same time, the overall landform of the site is high in the north and low in the south, with a maximum height difference of about 8.6 meters, which provides a natural terrain for lake-viewing with a broad view.
Our goal is to present a lakeside mountain building which blends into the surrounding natural landscape. With the concept of “Floating Platform”, the building is a platform space for viewing the lake from the mountain side as well as an architectural foreground for viewing the mountains from the lake side, enhancing the dialogue between the mountain and the water.
Take the advantage of terrain characteristics, the site has been divided into three platforms at different heights, which skillfully hided the basement, and at the same time enhanced the experience of landscape, where both sight lines from lower-south platform and higher-north platform can enjoy the lake view.
The design language of the entire site has been unified through the application of cantilever slabs, which not only reduces the volume of the building so that it can be more easily hidden in the mountains and forests, but also meets the needs of the use and provides a variety of spaces for viewing the lake.
The staggered setbacks are not only reflected in the architecture, but also carried over to the landscape design, forming a public open space with interesting and experiential landscape through terraced landscape.
